About NEHA and it's Origin
NEHA serves over a thousand members to advance the environmental health and protection professional in providing a healthful environment for everyone. The number one Food Safety Training in the ENTIRE United States, none of the others (ServSafe and National Registry) come close to NEHA. In addition to maintaining high standards of practice and testing for credintialing programs, NEHA provides training and resources for continuing education through online courses. The NEHA exams are offered utilizing Prometric. The original impetus behind the creation of a national professional society for environmental health practitioners was the desire by professionals to establish a standard of excellence for the developing professional.

NEHA defines environmental health as the science of preventing human injury and/or illness and promoting well-being by: 1). identifying and evaluating environmental sources and hazardous agents; and 2). limiting exposures to hazardous physical, chemical, and biological agents in the air, water, soil, food, and other environmental media or settings that may adversely affect human health.

The Professional Food Manager
NEHA states that Foodservice Operators must manage risks effectively. In doing so, management teams must learn basic food handling practices and food safety principles. They must apply the information on the job, and pass a Conference for Food Protection / American National Standards Institute (CFP/ANSI) approved examination. NEHA's Professional Food Manager training supplies culinary and hospitality professionals and students with the knowledge to pass the CFP/ANSI-approved exam while helping to ensure the continued successful execution of food safety best practices in the workplace.
